Additional third party texts available from the Fry's Electric, Micro Center, Crown Books etc. such as: Adobe Classroom in a Book series maybe of assistance, look at the Photoshop book.

Supplemental Reading:

A book case of magazines and catalogues is maintain in our lab as a reference for students.

EVALUATION OF STUDENTS:

The final course grade will be based on a cumulative number of points from the laboratory projects and lecture information presented.

  1. Attendance/hours 15%
  2. Reading Assignments 15%
  3. Electronic filing of shots 5%
  4. Projects assigned & 4-5 wk reviews, 10%
  5. Presentation of photos (printed and mounted) 10%
  6. Power point and I photo presentations 10%
  7. Digital manipulation 10%
  8. Portfolio Review of Original and Edited best shots 25%

Reviews or Classroom Critique:

Every four to five weeks there is a review and presentation of assignments . This includes the presentation of the required assigned your mounted work in front of the class. If the work is a basic repeat of the work presented, the student will receive a "C". If the work shows creativity, imagination, and interpretation of the work presented by the instructor, the student may be assigned an "A" or "B" grade. The showing of extra or additional work demonstrating, your understanding of the material may result in "B" and "A" grades. This work is to be mounted on mat board using photo-mount or cut window mats and titled.

Materials:

You will need the following items for the Next class:

Your Photographic Student ID - EVERY TIME YOU WALK INTO THE LAB, YOU MUST CLOCK IN. These hours are reported to the instructor and may used in grading. For each hour outside of scheduled class time the Graphics Lab makes money to buy new equipment and supplies.

Pay lab fee - During registration and with your Student ID in hand pay the fee to use the computer labs. You will be locked out of lab use if fee is not paid this covers cost of paper and toner for black and white printer used for class assignments.

Access to each photos data
Most camera record the shooting exposures, WB, bracketing for various assignments allowing a reference to date and time of shooting to update names of the file number when off loading images.

Your personal camera you may check out from college a limited number of different cameras after signing the release forms. The operation book for you camera.

Storage Device:

  1. Two Zip Disks -100Mb. or 250Mb about $ 35.00 for package of three (3) disks.
  2. The lab does not support 750Mb zips
  3. Label disks with your name and use one for backup.
  4. Disks can be purchased from Fry's Electric, Price Club, Target Stores, Egghead, Software house, and FC Bookstore (prices are little higher).
  5. If desire you may use USB Thumb Drive maybe be less expensive in long run and easier to use on cross platform porjects.

Color Printing Cards - The color print card is required if you wish to print on the ACG's color printers or color Copier. The card price is $12.00 and is available from the Art Department office (Rm 1021-O) and sometimes the bookstore.

  1. Pricing for laser prints is $ .50 for 81/2x11 $1.00 for 11x17.
  2. Inkjet prints of your image on various supplied papers types are charged based on saturation of color evaluated by the lab tech .
  3. Large format prints 32" wide are $6.00 per linear foot.
  4. See lab aid for payment by punching out color print card we can not take cash.
  5. See lab tech or myself for printing process to inkjet or large format printer.
