We are using the Non-Designer's Design Book by Robin Williams as the text for this semester. It maybe purchased on line or through the FC Book store. ISBM 0-321-19385-7.
Each unit of instruction for the class:
• The Mac,
• QuarkXpress, Scanning,
• Photoshop, &
• Illustrator, have reference files and or handouts, on the file server ACG>ACG_FILE>Glen>ACG100.


Additional third party texts available from the FC Bookstore, Fry's Electric, Micro Center, Crown Books etc. such as: Adobe Classroom in a Book, (this is used repeatedly during the semester),

Supplemental Reading:

The WOW ! books, Mastering Adobe Illustrator, Mastering Photoshop, are sometimes helpful.
Magazines: A book case of magazines and catalogues is maintain in our lab as a reference for students.

EVALUATION OF STUDENTS:

The final course grade will be based on a cumulative number of points from the laboratory projects and lecture information presented.

The College has an Academic Honesty Policy which is required to be included in all grading policies as well as Emergency Procedures .

Reviews or Classroom Critique:

About every fourth week there is an assignment review (the end of each unit of instruction). This includes the presentation of the required assigned work in front of the class. If the work is a basic repeat of the work presented, the student will receive a "C". If the work shows creativity, imagination, and interpretation of the work presented by the instructor, the student may be assigned an "A" or "B" grade. The showing of extra or additional work demonstrating, your understanding of the material may result in "B" and "A" grades. This work is to be mounted on mat board.

You will need the following items for the Next class:

Your Photographic Student ID - EVERY TIME YOU WALK INTO THE LAB, YOU MUST CLOCK IN. These hours are reported to the instructor and may be used in grading. For each hour outside of scheduled class time the Graphics Lab makes money to buy new equipment and supplies.

During registration and with your Student ID in hand, pay required fees to use the computer labs. You will be denied the use of the lab if fees are not paid. The fees cover cost of paper and toner for black and white printer used for class assignments.

Color Printing Cards -

  1. The color print card is required if you wish to print on the ACG's color printers or color Copier. The card price is $12.00 and is available from the Art Department office (Rm 1021-O) and sometimes the bookstore.
  2. Pricing for laser prints is $ .50 for 8 1/2 x 11 $1.00 for 11 x 17.
  3. Inkjet prints of your image on various supplied papers types are charged based on saturation of color evaluated by the lab tech .
  4. Large format prints 32" wide are $6.00 per linear foot.
  5. See lab aid for payment by punching out color print card we can not take cash.
  6. See lab tech or myself for printing process to inkjet or large format printer.

Policy:

All pagers and cell phones must be off or silent mode. Phones in the lab or the lecture room are disturbing to me and your classmates. I may lower your grade one letter grade for the semester, if a pager or cell phone rings in the class room or lab.
